    John Boynton
    President and Chief Executive Officer of Torstar and
    Publisher of the Toronto Star

    John Boynton is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Torstar and Publisher of the Toronto Star. Prior to Torstar, Mr. Boynton served as Chief Marketing Officer of Aimia Inc. from 2014 to 2017. Before joining Aimia, he worked at Rogers Communications Inc. for 12 years, most recently as Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. Prior to working for Rogers Communications, he held senior executive positions with a number of companies including Sprint Canada, AT&T Canada, Scott's Hospitality and Pepsico. He is Co-Vice Chair of the Toronto Region Board of Trade and member of the board of the Canadian Marketing Association and a member of the board of directors of the Canadian Cancer Society. Mr. Boynton is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario, Richard Ivey School of Business.

    Lorenzo DeMarchi
    Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

    On November 19, 2009, Mr. DeMarchi was appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Prior to assuming this position, Mr. DeMarchi was Vice President, Corporate Development for Torstar Corporation with responsibilities including acquisitions, strategic investments and partnerships in both traditional and digital media. Mr. DeMarchi worked in a number of positions at Harlequin Enterprises between 1997 and 2005 including Executive Vice President, Creativity Division and Executive Vice President, Business Development where he was responsible for expansion initiatives in new media, alternative formats and new geographies. Before joining Torstar, Mr. DeMarchi held various finance and strategy positions in the healthcare, packaged goods and auto industries. He currently serves on the board of VerticalScope, Canadian Press Enterprises and Blue Ant Media. Mr. DeMarchi holds an undergraduate degree in engineering from Ryerson University and an MBA from the University of Toronto.

    Marie E. Beyette
    Senior Vice President, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary

    Ms. Beyette is the Senior Vice President, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary of Torstar Corporation. She joined Torstar in 1998 as Legal Counsel and was appointed Assistant General Counsel in 1999, Director of Legal Services and Corporate Secretary in 2002, Vice President, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary in 2005 and moved to her current position in 2009. Prior to joining Torstar Corporation, Ms. Beyette articled and worked as an associate in the Business Law group at Cassels Brock & Blackwell.

    Ms. Beyette holds a B.A. (Hons.) in Psychology from the University of Western Ontario, an LL.B. from Queen’s University, and an MBA from the University of Toronto.

    Jennifer Barber
    Chief Financial Officer Community and Daily News Brands & Senior VP, Finance Torstar

    Ms. Barber joined Torstar as the Senior Vice President, Finance in October, 2012. Prior to joining Torstar, Ms. Barber was most recently the Chief Financial Officer & Corporate Secretary of Hydrogenics Corporation, a TSX and NASDAQ listed global manufacturer of onsite hydrogen generators, power systems and energy storage systems where she was responsible for overall financial management, financial reporting, investor relations and corporate secretary activities. Other previous roles include Vice President Finance & Corporate Controller at Hydrogenics Corporation and Director of Corporate Finance and Controller at Stuart Energy Systems Corporation.

    Ms. Barber worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP from 1997 to 2001 and received her Chartered Accountant designation in 2000. Ms. Barber holds an Hons. B. Comm from McMaster University.

    Ian Oliver
    Executive Vice President Torstar and President of Community Brands and Operations.

    Ian Oliver was appointed Executive Vice President Torstar and President of Community Brands and Operations in October, 2017.

     Prior to that he was President of Metroland Media 2008 to 2017. Mr. Oliver held the position of Executive Vice President from 2006 until he was appointed president.  He also held the position of Publisher and served as Group Publisher of Metroland West and Publisher of the Hamilton Spectator,

    In 2011, Mr. Oliver was inducted into the Sheridan Business Hall of Fame. He sits on the boards of Black Press and LeaseBusters.

    He is a Sheridan College graduate and holds an MBA from the University of Leicester, U.K.

    Neil Oliver
    Executive Vice President Torstar and President of Daily News Brands

    Neil Oliver was appointed Executive Vice President and President of Daily News Brands in October, 2017.

    Prior to that he was Group Publisher and Vice President with Metroland Media Group, where he was responsible for Metroland's  daily newspapers; The Hamilton Spectator and the Waterloo Region Record as well as several Metroland community newspapers and media assets across southwestern Ontario.

    Neil currently sits on the boards of News Media Canada, the Burlington Foundation, The Reach Out Centre for Kids (the lead agency for the child and mental health sector in the Region of Halton), is a member of the Advertising Professional Advisory Council for Sheridan College and previously served on several community boards. 

    Neil holds an MBA from the University of Leicester, U.K.
